You might have a Manager part that pushes you toward perfectionism to honor your parents' sacrifices, a Firefighter part that numbs you through people-pleasing or overwork when guilt becomes overwhelming, and an Exile part that carries deep shame about not belonging in either culture. IFS helps you understand these parts with compassion, recognizing that each one developed for a good reason, and guides them toward healthier roles within your internal system.

    I might ask you to notice where you feel a particular emotion in your body, then invite you to get curious about that part. What is it trying to protect you from? What does it need you to know? From there, we work to build a relationship between your core Self and that part, often leading to a shift in how the part feels and behaves. For bicultural clients, this might involve connecting with a part that carries guilt about family expectations, understanding how it formed in response to your cultural environment, and helping it release the burden it has been holding. Sessions are always paced to what feels safe and manageable for you.
